Ambitious Goals

The past few years I have been stunted by many emotional weights. Maybe in later posts I will elaborate, but for now, this general description will do.

Truth is, I had many goals and things I wanted to accomplish before I turned 40 years old. None of them have come to fruition and I turn 40 in February.

I’m not completely discouraged, except for the fact that many of the reasons why they haven’t come true is because of my bad choices. I could not focus on what was best for me to achieve what I want in this life and I accommodated things that I should have let go. I made choices that were best for others and not myself.

There are times in life when the only way to learn is the hard way.

Learn and move on is becoming somewhat of a mantra for me these days. We all have difficulties we have to overcome and goals we want to pursue. But, if we don’t learn from our mistakes and take responsibility for our own indiscretions, then we will never get what we want out of life.

I have learned, especially in the last few months, that sometimes you have to just start. We all have to start somewhere in life, no matter what we are trying to accomplish and sometimes that’s enough to get the ball rolling in a positive direction. One tiny step at a time.

I stumbled on this TED Talk by Stephen Duneier the other day and it really resonated with me. I feel like I should watch it every morning to start my day.
